Tuesday, March 2nd. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Buffalo Sabres at Pittsburgh Penguins. This game was interesting for a couple of reasons. Not only was it a big game as far as the NHL standings go, but it was also Sydney Crosby against Ryan Miller. Just two days before, Miller and Crosby had faced off in the gold medal hockey game at the Winter Olympics, with Crosby driving a shot past Miller in overtime to give Canada the win over Team USA. When Crosby was introduced, his home crowd in Pittsburgh didn't boo him, but they only gave him about half the ovation that he was accustomed to. Miller, the goalie for Buffalo, was resting and did not play in the game. But when they showed him on the big screen, the Pittsburgh fans gave him a lengthy and very loud standing ovation. At two different times during the game, a video of Crosby's gold medal game winning goal against Miler was shown on the screen. Both times it was shown, it was met with a loud chorus of boos from the crowd. As a patriotic American, this makes me happy. Nothing against Crosby or Canada, but I think people should put their country before their city. So good job, Pittsburgh fans. Congratulations on showing some class and sticking up for America.
