Heard Lump discuss his diagnosis and successful treatment  for Bipolar Disorder this morning and just wanted to say how great it is for someone in a public situation to come out and discuss it.  The unwarranted stigma associated with mental illness is should have been overcome years ago.  We know now that mental sickness is a physical sicness associated with the mind and can usually be treated just as most physical ailments we all get.  BUt the vision we still tend to nurture is that of the person we should put in asylum somewhere because when we did that we were too ignorant to know the behavior was a sickness that we could help or even fix.

So we need more folks like yourself, Robin Williams, Patrick Kennedy that continue to step up and say look I've delt with my illness and am a person you know, respect and until I told you, you didn't even know I was sick.  Sadly 25% of Olklahomans will have a serious mental illness in their lives, but most will not talk about it because we judge them to be unclean when we find out.
